Since we’re a landlocked province, we can look on in envy at the coastal cities and their beaches ... or we can take advantage of Gauteng’s numerous water parks.
Who needs the ocean? Gauteng has more than enough water parks to satisfy our need for water fun – all year round. Here are a few to try ...
Aquadome
The Aquadome is a part of the Emerald Resort & Casino in Vanderbijlpark, Sedibeng, and there is much fun to be had here. This indoor arena is temperature-controlled, so you can visit any time of the year – even in winter. There are six heated pools, as well as a fun shipwreck and waterslides for the kids. There are lifeguards on duty to make sure that everyone is safe while having fun.
StokeCity Wake Park
StokeCity Wake Park can be found in Midrand. It offers a fun day out for the family, and aims to be easy on the pocket. There are several sections in the park, catering to all fitness levels and ages. The main attraction – the Cable Park – offers wakeboarding, waterskiing and kneeboarding, in which participants are pulled at speed by a cable system. Other attractions include an open-water swimming course, stand-up paddling and the Aqua Park, which is a floating obstacle course. The Stoke Café serves light meals.
